What is obscure and textured glass?

textured glass landscape image

Obscure toughened glass has been physically treated with a pattern or design on its surface. The texture naturally distorts and obscures the view through it, but this doesn’t mean that it blocks light.

The pane remains translucent because it transmits diffused light. Our obscure glass is also four to five times stronger than standard annealed glass – each pane receives specialist heat treatment to make it highly resistant to everyday knocks.

Why buy textured glass?

1. Privacy with natural light

Do you need more light in a room, but don’t want to give up privacy?

Tempered textured glass obscures direct views, but still allows light to filter through. It’s a must-have for bathrooms, overlooked windows and other private areas of a home.

2. Decorative finish

Our textured glass adds interest to what would otherwise be a plain window pane. Different designs offer different levels of obscuration, so you can choose a piece that works for your home.

3. Strength for homes

Strength and safety matter, especially in domestic use. That’s why we toughen our glass to make it stronger than standard annealed glass. If the pane ever fails, it’s designed to safely fragment into small, blunt granules.
